"We are excited to have a son of Candy Ride in the barn, and are quite impressed with this first foal of his—she has a very strong shoulder. Adam Wachtel and Dr. Schleifer sent some mares with strong pedigrees to him, so we are anticipating more lovely foals to come," Rockridge Stud owner/operator Lere Visagie said.
Rockridge Stud has added two new stallions for the 2025 season, bringing its roster up to seven members. With MGSW/GISP 'TDN Rising Star' Messier (Empire Maker – Checkered Past, by Smart Strike) and 2022 GII Joe Hernandez Stakes winner Chewing Gum (Candy Ride {Arg} – Shared Heart, by Forestry), the farm aims to capitalize on bloodlines that are not already represented in New York.
Also grade 1-placed, the son of Candy Ride was bred by Wertheimer et Frere.
